Was Albert DeSalvo a Ruthless Serial Killer or Did He Deceive Us All?

If there’s a pattern in criminal profiling that can identify potential serial killers based on their childhood and upbringing, I’d say Albert DeSalvo is a textbook case. After what he went through as a kid, I’d think it can’t be a coincidence he became one of the most infamous murderers known as the Boston Strangler. Although his confession of killing thirteen women in the 1960s wasn’t necessarily true.

Let me explain.

Daddy Issues

DeSalvo’s father, Frank, was a raging, deadbeat alcoholic. He often brought prostitutes home and screwed them in front of his wife and children. He once made his kids watch as he knocked out all of his wife’s teeth and broke her fingers one by one. Frank was a brute misogynist who only used women to release his anger on or ease his insatiable libido — often both at the same time. When you have a man like that for a dad, you’re bound to have some severe issues in life.

So, it’s no wonder little Albert grew up torturing animals, shoplifting, and stealing things. He was only twelve when the police arrested him for battery and robbery in…
