Their relationship is toxic, dysfunctional, and unhealthy. But, I wouldn’t call it abusive. Both of them are selfish and emotional manipulators, except Marie plays the victim’s role while Malcolm is on the other side of the scale.

I would’ve cut 20 mins from the movie – starting with the rant about critics – and focus on its core, which is their past and relationship. It’s a good film if you’re willing to dig deeper and not just scratching the surface.
