I've read your piece. I see your point but disagree. Personally, it doesn't bother me because it's just a term to identify a certain type of horror film -- which can be good or bad.

I don't necessarily think that when someone calls a horror "elevated" they are trying to be snobby or highbrow. There are certain people who will surely use it for that reason, but it's just a term that helps people recognize a subgenre.

It doesn't apply to any other genre, that's for sure.
