I’m running a publication for over a year now. It’s just me and occasionally a few writers I reach out to ask if they want to contribute with something.

A few stories of mine earned well, but I think even with a small follower count, I get more views and reads through my pub than when I self publish or submit to a similarly small sized pub.

It’s pretty much like running your own blog with a specific interest or niche. I have a future plan to change a few things and make it more exciting, though – we’ll see how that turns out.

The one advice I’d give to anyone who wants to run his own pub is to not get frustrated after a few months. It takes quite a long time until readers and Medium itself give credit to you, but its’s worth it in the long term. 95% of what I publish in Vulnerable Man is curated within one day. And I think that’s because consistency and quality, which the platform rewards long term.
