I understand both of your reasons for not getting into an argument/lecture about it and then feeling guilty about it too. I would’ve done the same.

Although, I don’t live or fly in America and on the flights I take in Europe people usually don’t say things like this. I actually had more pleasant experiences with strangers on planes than bad ones.
