Exactly! Blade Runner 2049 was pretty empty emotionally, at least for me, but every single frame in the film looked gorgeous. Visually, Dune is pretty much the opposite — nothing stands out at all.

I was having a hard time too with the plot in the first hour, but then, the main plot points kinda clicked in the second half. Although, by then the movie totally lost me.
