Certainly not most of the audience and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I agree with you on the “absent father” part regarding Ted. That said, this show is an idealized version of life, oftentimes unrealistic, so it’s pointless to expect such things from it that you bring up here.
And the latest episode (3x11) pretty much addressed the “mother” part in the show that you were missing. And it did poignantly and beautifully at the same time.
