Although it's sad as hell, the subplot about growing up and losing childhood is the only thing that worked in season 3.

I also had lots of toys back then, but I only played with a handful of them regularly. They had weird, and sometimes slightly racist, nicknames, but every once in a while I think about them - like, when I rewatch Toy Story 3 for the 17th time, for example.
